It all started with an agreement.

"Hey Needle, will you edit my paper for me?"

I looked at the packet my friend, let's call her C, had handed me. All twelve pages of it.

"Umm..."

"I'll get you something if you do."

I glanced at the clock. An hour left until my appointment with my advisor. Sure, I could make a dent in this. I agreed, and we joked for the first half hour of my time about what C would get me as I worked.

"I could buy you some candy," she suggested.

"Nah, how about we split a pizza again after work in two weeks?"

"Okay."

We continued talking for the rest of my time. Before I went to my meeting I promised to come back and edit the rest of her paper. I stayed true to my promise and returned to the library after my hour-long meeting. By then it was five o'clock. To be more effective I closed myself in one of the library's back rooms and focused on my task. At 6:15PM I went back out to C, "I need to get to the cafeteria before it closes but I'll edit the rest when I get back."

"Okay, but I need to get to Hobby Lobby tonight."

That was when I realized the opportunity that Fate had finally decided to allow me.

"Can I go with you and go to Jo Ann's?"

"Sure."

THANK YOU! OH MY GOSH, FINALLY!

We went to Hobby Lobby after I had eaten dinner, edited a little more, and run to my room for my refs (sorry ; my printer was out of ink so I couldn't print off refs for your plushies >.<; ). And then...we went to Jo Ann's. The store was nearly empty. The fabric selection was grand. I grabbed their largest cart and ran out of room in ten seconds. I bought all I needed for half of what I thought I would have to pay. So. Happy.

After Jo Ann's, I told my friend that the trip there was payment enough. She hadn't eaten yet so she took me to a small, local restaurant and had dinner while I finished her essay. We finished only a little after closing time (about 10PM) and went back to the car. C looked over my edits and then made a proposition, "Needle, what would you say to editing all my papers from now on? I'll pay you for them with stuff like eating out together or rides to places."

My response, "Sure."
